NEW TO MLC?

Worship Messiah is a congregation with a deep appreciation for the traditional form of Christian worship, including the proclamation of Scripture and preaching, corporate confession and singing, prayers and a weekly invitation to Holy Communion. Most of our music is classic hymns accompanied by piano, organ, or flute. We also appreciate variety, so we practice three different musical settings to the liturgy on a regular rotation. Messiah is a congregation that likes to laugh. Our dress code is “come as you are.” You will meet people here in suits and dresses and many others in jeans and shorts. Small children are always welcome at Messiah. Some parents enjoy bringing their children to worship; others prefer to take advantage of our professionally staffed nursery.
Messiah is a Reconciled in Christ community, which means that we intentionally welcome the LBGTQ+ community. We are also a congregation of multiple colors, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including several families who are current and former members of the military. We are convinced that God makes room for ALL people at the table.
This is why any baptized Christian is invited to receive Communion at Messiah. You don’t have to be a member of this congregation or a Lutheran. If you believe that you experience the real presence of Jesus in, with, and under, the bread and wine, come and take your place at Jesus’ dining table! Children who do not yet receive Communion are always invited to come forward to receive a blessing. Grape juice and gluten-free wafers are also available for those who need them.
Worship is a primary way that we meet God—in Word, Sacrament, and in the faces of each other. We hope that you will also let us meet Jesus through you!
Lutherans:
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with about 4 million members in nearly 10,000 congregations across the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace. For us, as the ELCA, this faith comes through the good news of Jesus Christ and gives us the freedom and the courage to wonder, discover and boldly participate in what God is up to in the world.
We welcome you to join this community of faith — regardless of your age, race, gender, life experience, complexities and questions. You have a unique story that can only add to the richness of the larger story that makes up the ELCA and Messiah Lutheran.
